Historic Resolution at Wisconsin Republican State Convention Calls for Legislators to Interpose for the Preborn

On May 18th, 2019, the grassroots of the Republican Party in Wisconsin adopted the strongest resolution on behalf of the preborn ever in Wisconsin history.

Though the resolution was watered down somewhat by the state convention resolution committee, it goes far beyond anything ever produced prior to this in Wisconsin. The resolution denounces blind obedience to SCOTUS, declares abortion murder, decries the 46 year practice of regulating abortion, and calls upon all GOP legislators to interpose for the preborn and simply stop the murder.

The resolution was initiated under the able leadership of the Jackson County Republican Party. Missionaries to the Preborn contributed to writing and seeing the resolution passed. Pastor Matt Trewhella spent two days at the convention running a table for the Lesser Magistrate Project instructing scores of people in the doctrine of the lesser magistrates and interposition one or two people at a time

Here is the wording of the Resolution that was adopted:

  1. Jackson – 2: Stop the Murder of Unborn Children

WHEREAS, all human beings are created in the image of God, and are thus endowed by their Creator with an unalienable right to life; and

WHEREAS, abortion is the murder of the weakest and most innocent human beings within our midst; and

WHEREAS, governments are instituted by God among mankind, being charged with the duty to secure and protect the right to life, and establish justice for all; and

WHEREAS, Wisconsin Statute 940.04(6) declares, ” ‘unborn child’ means a human being from the time of conception”; and

WHEREAS, Wisconsin Statute 940.01(a) declares, “whoever causes the death of another human being with intent to kill that person or another is guilty of a Class A felony”; and

WHEREAS, the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that “the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”; and

WHEREAS, Wisconsin legislators should not stand by while the innocent are murdered simply because the US Supreme court has issued an opinion; and

WHEREAS, our founding fathers recognized life as an inalienable, individual right which the Republican Party has reaffirmed in declaring abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia to be violations of this sacred and basic human right.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Republican Party of Wisconsin, in convention assembled, reaffirms its support for the rights of the unborn, and for the struggle to ensure that our government and our society protect and respect innocent human life in all its forms; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Republican Party of Jackson County calls upon the Wisconsin legislature to interpose on behalf of preborn children in Wisconsin and enact legislation to stop the murder of unborn children; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we direct state legislators to work to end the murder of the preborn in the State of Wisconsin –and not seek other approaches to regulate abortion–as a legislative priority for the 2019 legislative session.

Missionaries to the Preborn thanks the Jackson County Republican Party for their leadership and were blessed to work with them to contribute to this historic document.

Now when people speak with their Republican legislators – they can point to this Republican Party Platform Resolution and encourage them to interpose and defend ALL the preborn as that is the desire of the Party.

The “pro-life” bills brought by the GOP leadership this year mocked the preborn and spit in their face. Attached below is the original wording of the Jackson County Republican Party Resolution before being watered down somewhat by the State Convention Committee:

2019-25 Stop the Murder of Unborn Children

WHEREAS, all human beings are created in the image of God, and are thus endowed by their Creator with an unalienable right to life; and

WHEREAS, abortion is the murder of the weakest and most innocent human beings within our midst; and

WHEREAS, governments are instituted by God among mankind, being charged with the duty to secure and protect the right to life, and establish justice for all; and

WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land and all public officials from all levels of government take an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States; and

WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States mandates that no State shall deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law, nor deny to any human being within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws; and

WHEREAS, Wisconsin Statute 940.04(6) declares, “ ‘unborn child’ means a human being from the time of conception”; and

WHEREAS, the United States Supreme Court is not the final arbiter of what is or is not Constitutional, nor should Wisconsin legislators stand by while the innocent are murdered simply because the court has issued an opinion; and

WHEREAS, our founding fathers recognized life as an inalienable, individual right which the Republican Party has reaffirmed in declaring abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia to be violations of this sacred and basic human right.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the 3rd District Republican Party, in caucus assembled, reaffirms its support for the rights of the unborn, and for the struggle to ensure that our government and our society protect and respect innocent human life in all its forms; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the 3rd District Republican Party calls upon the Wisconsin legislature to interpose on behalf of preborn children in Wisconsin and enact legislation to stop the murder of unborn children; and to ignore and refuse to enforce any and all federal statutes, regulations, executive orders, and court rulings which would deprive an unborn child of the right to life; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we direct state legislators, the State Party Chair, and the State Republican Executive Committee to work to end the murder of the preborn in the State of Wisconsin –and not seek other approaches to regulate abortion–as a legislative priority for the 2019 legislative session, and to utilize reasonable Party resources necessary to promote and support such legislation.
